Our Story

Boca Chica Animal Hospital & Pet Resort has deep roots in Brownsville. The practice as it is today was the result of a merger of Animal Medical Center of Brownsville and Boca Chica Animal Hospital.

Animal Medical Center was started in Brownsville by Dr. Gary Crouch in 1971. The original location was the north expressway before moving to the current location in 1988. Boca Chica Animal Hospital was started in 1977 by Dr. Glenn Head where it was located on Boca Chica Blvd. Dr. Raul Rubalcava and Dr. Jerry Stanfield were also partners in the practice until their passing. In 2018, the two practices merged and became Boca Chica Animal Hospital & Pet Resort. In 2019 the practice underwent an 8000 square foot renovation to bring state-of-the-art medicine and a modern hospital to better serve our patients.
